Heathside School
Every young person deserves the opportunity to receive a wonderful education. At Heathside School, children are encouraged and supported to be the best possible version of themselves that they can be, through high-quality teaching, outstanding pastoral care, an enriching curriculum, clubs and activities, backed up with a long-standing track record of academic success.
Located in the heart of Hampstead village, Heathside is a friendly, non-academically selective, co-ed Prep school with a great sense of community. The Nursery offers children a wonderful introduction to learning from age two, and that nurturing environment is apparent throughout the school.
We sat down with newly appointed Headteacher Nadia Ward, who spoke with immense pride about what makes the school tick and how it is going from strength to strength.
“Heathside has an informal and relaxed environment that helps children to learn and grow in confidence. We meet every child with where they are at, and support them endlessly to reach for the stars and to really excel and fulfil their potential.
Our academic results are brilliant too and I believe that is what makes us special; providing a well-rounded, child-centred education that thoroughly prepares pupils to thrive in future life while displaying a sense of kindness and respect for themselves and others.
When I first visited Heathside, I was immediately struck by the calm atmosphere and happy, confident children I met throughout the school,” explains Nadia. “Hearing children talk with such enthusiasm about their school and learning made me realise this was exactly the right school for me. It was an honour to be appointed Headteacher at Heathside and to have the opportunity to build on the school’s strong foundations."
She added, “I see myself as a Headteacher, not simply a Head: teaching has been my life’s passion and I want to instil that passion in all teachers I work with to make sure we are consistently up to date with changes in education, that we’re challenging each other in a positive manner and thinking of the best possible ways to continue to provide a first-class education from nursery, all the way up to Year 8."
Outside teaching, Nadia is a keen gardener with a long-standing interest in both sustainability and environmental projects, passions she is keen to share with the children.
“What I am most proud of at Heathside is our strong ethos; it is both academic and nurturing and I witness pupils being able to flourish and enjoy freedom to learn. It is a privilege to be part of Heathside and I am so excited for the future of the school.”
Heathside warmly invites you to come and visit in person at one of the regular open mornings, or to book an individual tour to really get a feel of its distinctive culture and ethos.
