A terrorist who drove a van into worshippers outside a mosque has been slashed with a knife while in prison.
Darren Osborne, of Cardiff, was jailed in 2018 for killing one man and injuring 12 others near Finsbury Park Mosque in Seven Sisters Road in 2017.
Currently serving his life sentence in HMP Frankland Prison near Durham, Osborne was reportedly injured in an attack by another prisoner.
A Prison Service spokesperson told the Islington Gazette: “A prisoner at HMP Frankland was treated in hospital for minor injuries following an assault by another prisoner.
“We are unable to comment further while police investigate."
According to The Sun, Osborne was slashed with an “improvised knife” and had injuries from the “forehead to chin” in an attempt to “gouge an eye out”.
A source told the newspaper: “Osborne has been walking around with a target on his back as there are a few Muslim gangs in the prison.
“Someone was bound to get to him and this bloke did, with a home-made knife, while others kept watch.
"He cut him from forehead to chin. There was blood everywhere.
“He tried to gouge an eye out and strangle him, but guards stopped him."
Osborne has been reportedly attacked before while in prison, once with boiling water thrown at him in 2019 at Wakefield Prison in West Yorkshire and once with a knife at Full Sutton prison near York in 2020.
Shortly after midnight on June 19, 2017, Osborne ploughed a hire van into worshippers outside the mosque, killing 51-year-old Makram Ali and injuring 12 others.
He was seen blowing a kiss to angry bystanders after the incident.
