A flock of feathered friends visited a care home to celebrate World Animal Day.
Budgies were brought in to Cheverton Lodge care home in Islington by Performing Pets Therapy whichg gave them time to reminisce about their own pets.
“Our residents’ absolute favourite thing is animals,” the home’s manager Krisztina Vadnai said. “We often have visits from Therapy Pets because our residents love to react with the animals.”
Cheverton Lodge, run by the Barchester Healthcare group, also welcomes visiting relatives to bring in their own pets.
“The animals love it just as much as we do,” Krisztina added. “They get so much attention here — I don’t think they really want to leave!”
The charity uses animals as therapy for the home’s “life enrichment” programme aimed at keeping residents active with physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to their interests and abilities.
