Work to extend a new cycleway in Holloway towards Camden is expected to be completed this spring.
Cycleway 50 will eventually connect Seven Sisters Road in Finsbury Park to York Way after Islington Council finishes the second phase of the project.
TfL announced earlier this month that work on the route up to Holloway Road had been completed.
A public consultation on plans to extend the cycleway down Caledonian Road and Penn Road was held in October last year and the council is now moving forward with the changes.
These include creating cycle lanes in both directions on the two roads, which are one-way streets only for other traffic.
Other “improvements” include creating a new pedestrian and cycle crossing in Caledonian Road near Penn Road, as well as new flower beds and cycle parking close to Penn Stores.
A new crossing will also be installed in Hillmarton Road at the junction with Hungerford Road, as well as more cycle parking near St Luke’s Church.
Almost 70% of respondents to the council’s public consultation said that the changes would make them more likely to cycle in the area.
Work on this second phase of the cycleway is expected to finish in April.
