A new Aldi store is set to open close to a Tube station.
Hoardings have been put up outside the former Pret A Manger at 271 Holloway Road, just metres from Holloway Road Tube station.
Signs attached to the barriers promise that a new Aldi store will be opening at the site “soon”.
The store has applied for a licence to sell alcohol between 7am and 11pm every day of the week – suggesting these might be the store’s planned opening hours.
It is expected that the hoardings will be removed from the pavement outside the building by October 7.
Aldi has not confirmed exactly when the supermarket will welcome customers, but it is currently hiring for roles at the store ahead of an expected opening date later this year.
The Holloway Road site is among ten new Aldi stores expected to open across the country between now and the New Year.
Other locations include Leytonstone and Beckton in London – as well as a supermarket just outside the capital in Waltham Cross.
The UK’s fourth largest supermarket will then have opened 35 new stores in 2024, as part of a £550 million investment.
Jonathan Neale, real estate managing director at Aldi UK, said: “At Aldi, we want to ensure that high quality yet affordable food is available to everyone which is why we are continuing to expand across the UK.”
