Arsenal cruised to a 5-0 win at 19th-placed Burnley on Saturday, keeping the pressure on Liverpool and Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.
It was the Gunners' fifth straight league victory in 2024, following up the 6-0 away success over West Ham.
And the manner of the recent away performances has been particularly impressive, taking control of games with early goals and using that advantage to shut down any chance of a comeback and dominate.
Martin Odegaard opened the scoring with an excellent half-volley from the edge of the box within five minutes, and the midfield maestro had another all-encompassing game, influencing all phases of play and later setting up Bukayo Saka who scored a brace on the day.
When Odegaard and Saka are on form, Arsenal look unstoppable.
An important part of Arsenal’s success in the past few games has been the inclusion of Leandro Trossard up top who grabbed another goal against Burnley, despite frustrating with a few missed chances.
His fluidity through the middle to drop deep as well as threaten in behind, alongside his technical security and finishing ability, has been a huge bright spark.
Trossard’s relationship with Kai Havertz, in particular, has been key to unlocking the attack, combining with deep runs with their traditional big striker/little striker link-up.
Their intelligence when interchanging positions gives Arsenal constant movement while maintaining a focal point through the middle, helping to capitalise on forward passes to launch attacks quickly.
The speed of attacks has also been a big change in recent weeks.
The latest emphatic win helps keep the pressure on Liverpool and City, with the defending champions dropping points at home to Chelsea over the weekend.
And in a run-in which will see few slip-ups, every dropped point gets more and more significant.
Arsenal’s electric form since the turn of the year has also seen them rack up a plus-19 goal difference in their past five games, a factor which could make all the difference come the end of the season.
The next test is coping with the knockout stages in Europe alongside the Premier League schedule.
After a midweek trip to Porto in the Champions League last 16, Arsenal return home to host Newcastle on Saturday (8pm).
Mikel Arteta will need to manage injuries, fatigue and make the most of his squad to carry this form across both competitions.
